Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal method that targets each individual hair follicle, making it ideal for small and sensitive areas such as the face, ears, penis, scrotum and around the anus. It is a safe and effective treatment with minimal discomfort, downtime and aftercare. It is the only method to day that guarantees 100% permanent removal of hair.
During an electrolysis treatment a sterile needle usually the width of an eyelash is inserted into the hair follicle where a mild electric current is passed through creating heat or a chemical reaction in the follicle destroying the hair which is then removed. With time this damages the follicle and it eventually it stops producing hair. It may take a few treatments to effectively damage the hair follicle but once it’s gone, it will never come back.
Many factors influence hair growth, so you will need to return for several electrolysis visits. The total number of sessions needed to remove hair permanently from a particular area will vary from person to person. Most clients return once a week or every other week as needed. But the unwanted hair will be gone forever once the series of treatments is complete. Each treatment lasts between 15 minutes two hours.
Electrolysis is not necessarily painful although there is some level of discomfort. Most clients tolerate it very well and the intensity of the current can be adapted to your individual sensitivity. You may also be able to speak to your doctor to get a local anaesthetic cream to help reduce the discomfort.
For larger areas with high hair density such as a full back, electrolysis take a significant amount of time but if your ultimate goal is a complete and permanent hair removal this is the right treatment for you. An alternative is to use laser hair reduction to remove up to 90% of the hair then finishing off with electrolysis.
Areas we treat with Electrolysis
The eyebrows are the frame of the eyes and although thick eyebrows are a nice feature, they can change the face considerably when they are out of place and out of control. Electrolysis is the best permanent hair removal system for the eyebrows given its very precise nature, resulting in nicely shaped eyebrows with no maintenance. Any areas below and above the eyebrows, including the monobrow (the hairs in between the eyebrows that link them together) can be treated safely. Each session can last between 15min to 60min.
Hairs int he ears can look very unsightly and can be a nuisance for most people as the process of ageing progresses. We treat hairs anywhere in the outer ear shell (the pinna) and the outside and inside of the tragus. The deeper hairs in your ears are essential for protection and should never be removed. Sessions can last between 15min and 60min.
Growing a beard has become very trendy but can also mean a lot of hard work to maintain a nice groomed shape. We can remove the hairs from the cheeks and the sideburns giving you a nicely shaped clean inner arch so you don’t have to keep shaving to maintain a groomed appearance. Each session can last between 30min and 90min.
Overgrowing hairs on the back of the neck can be a nuisance especially when they stick out of the shirt. We can remove permanently the hairs in the area to give you a tidier neater appearance, and helping your haircut last longer. Each session can last between 30min and 90min
Not only overgrown hairs around the nipples can hide them, but they can also look out of place when you don’t have a very hairy chest. They can be removed just outside the areola to give you a tidier looking chest. Each session can last between 15min and 60min.
Underarm hairs can increase sweat and smell and can be rather unsightly. Whether you want to fully remove or just reduce the hairs in your armpits, electrolysis is a permanent solution. Each session can last between 30min and 90min.
Perianal is the area around the anus and the permanent hair removal with electrolysis makes it for improved hygiene and enhanced sensitivity. There is very little discomfort associated with the treatment and we can remove hairs from just the outside of the anus or all the way up to the intergluteal cleft (commonly known as the butt crack). Each treatment can last between 60min and 90min.
There are many reasons why one wouldn’t want any hairs in the penis and the scrotum, including hygienic, aesthetic and medical. We can remove or reduce the hairs from the scrotum for enhanced sensitivity during sex and improved hygiene (you sweat less) . The hairs around the shaft of the penis also makes it for better sensitivity but also gives you that optical inch, as the penis looks bigger without the hairs hiding it. We can remove the hairs from around the base of the penis all the way up on the shaft to the glans (the head of the penis). You can choose a combination of both or just either the scrotum or the penis. The insides of the groin can also be treated with electrolysis permanent hair removal. Each session can last between 60min and 90min.

A fine probe (about the size of an eyelash) is inserted into the hair follicle where a tiny burst of energy is targeted at the root of the hair. This burst of energy prevents nutrients feeding the hair and the hair becomes weaker and finer. After repeated treatments the hair is no longer able to grow and complete hair free results are obtained.
Each hair requires repeated treatments because each individual hair has its own growing cycle and blood supply. Electrolysis works by weakening the hair and eventually destroying it.
First invented in 1875 it is proven both effective and totally safe when performed correctly. Modern technology has meant Electrolysis has become more gentle, comfortable, even more effective and is an affordable treatment increasingly popular today.
You will have a thorough consultation to ensure if treatment is suitable for you and which method is best for you. You will have a chance to ask questions about the treatment and to experience a taster session. Your electrolysist will discuss with you a treatment plan.
The probes are disposable to totally eliminate any risk of cross infection and therefore for each client a brand new, sterile probe will be used. Ask to see the individually packed sterile probe being opened in front of you prior to treatment.
